Baerlauch, Basel and Bops
In the same way that Bärlauch (wild garlic) portends spring and an upcoming season of bounty and harvests, our musical theme was the first songs on debut albums, all of which announced the subsequent opus of music from their respective bands. During our culture calendar, we shared pro-tips of foraging for your own Bärlauch leaves around Basel, which you can chop into your pasta or even soufflé if you're as ambitious as English Show correspondent Gabe! Walking around our fair city, we noticed the magnolias and freesia are in full bloom – spring is most definitely here in Basel, and we hope you also enjoy the bounty of cultural events and music we shared with you in this programme.
All bands great and small had to start somewhere, and the first song on their first album sets out the stall and says: this is who we are! This is Part 7 of this music theme (Part 1 was here; Part 2 was here; Part 3 was here; Part 4 was here; Part 5 was here, Part 6 was here). We played these bops:

Kings Of Leon - «Red Morning Light», from debut album «Youth & Young Manhood»
Nirvana - «Blew», from debut album «Bleach»
Elbow - «Any Day Now», from debut album «Asleep In The Back»
George Michael - «Faith», from debut album «Faith»
