Jeremy Loops, frontofbicycle Art Exhibition, Dig It - Globes for Plants

Broadcast on:
6 September, 2016

Jeremy Loops is a South African singer and songwriter whose debut album Trading Change made a huge splash in his native country in 2014. He released the album in the US and in Europe a year later and has been touring relentlessly since. He stopped off at Bern's Gurtenfestival in July to talk to Anna about his connection to Switzerland and the joys and perils of relying on technology when playing live. Catch him when he comes back to Bern on November 18th and to Lucerne on November 19th - tickets are selling fast, so get yours now! Listen to the full-length interview here.

The frontofbicycle art agency is showing a pop up art exhibition this weekend: the group exhibition Riders in Blue. The show will take place at the Basel Art Center (Riehentorstrasse 31), a short walk from the Wettsteinplatz tram stop. The title of the exhibit is a contemporary response to the Blaue Reiter movement from a hundred years ago, as well as to the exhibition opening on the theme at the Fondation Beyeler in September. Megan Rogers came into the studio to tell us more about the artists and the exhibition. The show will feature a melange of well-recognized local and international artists.

Hester Macdonald, contributing correspondent of the BlueBox team, garden designer and founder of the Swiss Gardening School, hosts our regular gardening segment, Dig It! With a wet spring and a dryish summer, many perennials in the garden are a lot taller than usual, and in need of some support. Bernhard Anliker, of the company Einzigartiges, has produced the ideal item to help out: hollow metal spheres, perfect for tucking into a border to support your plants, or just to admire on a terrace or even indoors. He met up with Hester Macdonald at the home and garden decoration show, Ornaris, in Bern, and told us all about these magic spheres. Listen to the segment again here.
