Table Top Shakespeare, Shakespeare In The Courtyard, Annie Goodchild, Gadget Guru - Pokemon Go

Broadcast on:
23 August, 2016

The idea is as mad as it is brilliant: Forced Entertainment brings you the Complete Works of Shakespeare - all 36 plays. No one is able to enact works quite like the experimental theatre company from Sheffield, creating maximum theatre impact on a minimum setting. To stage the playwright’s comedies and tragedies they require only a table, a selection of ordinary, everyday objects and no more than 60 minutes for each production. Macbeth is played by a bottle of linseed oil, a cardboard box full of screws stands in for Prince Malcolm, and Hamlet is now a bottle of balsamic vinegar. The production will be at the Kaserne in Basel from 1 - 9 September. Founding member, production designer and actor Richard Lowdon talked to the English Show about what to expect when you go to see the production. Listen to the interview again here.

Celebrating The Bard's 400th death Anniversary, Shakespeare in the Courtyard 2016 are proud to present teaser tasters of three of Shakespeare's tragedies: a pro-vocational production of Tybalt and Benvolio are Dead (formerly known as Romoeo & Juliet) as well as Macbeth and Hamlet. Performance dates are August 24, 25, 28 and September 1, 2, 3, 2016 at 8:30pm.

Singer Annie Goodchild came into the studio to describe her singing and songwriting endeavors. Born in Boston, raised in New York and now living in Basel, Annie's music is as haunting as it is beautiful. We had the pleasure of her performing the song "Green Eyed Monster" live in the studio accompanied by Gabriel Wyss on acoustic guitar. Annie's album should be out shortly and you can catch her act live in Bern on September 8 and at the SILOfest in Basel on September 10. Listen to the interview and live performance again here.

This month, Ian the Gadget Guru takes a look at the phenomenon that is Pokémon Go. After playing in Switzerland and Sweden, he wonders: is everything rosy or are there problems ahead? Listen to the segment again here.
