English Book Sale, Best Places To Eat Thai
Angela and Faiz from Centrepoint came into the studio to talk about the Joint English Book Sale from April 3 - 5. The sale is being organised by Centrepoint, American Women's Club of Basel, Anglican Church Basel and GGG. Browse for books and DVDs, join the organisers for an Apéro, or partake of the many refreshments that will be on offer during the three-day sale at the Basel West Library. Details on the sale can be found here.
We launched a new series called Best Places To Eat with our food guru Sue Style today! In the series, Sue will be telling us about cuisines from around the world - and more specifically, about good restaurants in Basel and over the border. This week, Sue talked about Thai cuisine - think lemongrass, chilis, ginger, and coconut milk. Head to the Restaurant Nordbahnhof for Thai specialities. Owned by a Swiss-Thai family and staffed by family members, this is a typical Quartierbeiz or local pub/friendly neighbourhood resto in the St Johanns Quartier - go check it out!
Swissgerman Words of the Week
You know how to count to 10, you know the days of the week - it's only natural that you'd want to know the months of the year! So here are the first six months: Januar, Februar, März, April, Mai, Juni. Same as in High German, but with a Swissgerman inflection. Listen to the show to hear the pronunciation!
