Erik Julliard, Rob Stuart
Eric Julliard, the producer of Basel's increasingly popular Tattoo, is understandably a busy man - especially in the run-up to each year's event.
That didn't deter Andrew Craven, who went over to the Kaserne - venue of the extravaganza - to speak to him about what's in store in 2013. But first, he asked the veteran Top Secret Drum Corps founder to explain how the Basel Tattoo started in the first place.
Our cinema guru Rob Stuart told Ciaran about Monsters University (2013), a wonderful children's film that is a prequel of sorts to the equally marvellous Monsters, Inc. (2001). Also very much recommended is Before Midnight, part three of Richard Linklater’s three-piece love drama and a masterpiece, thoroughly acclaimed by the Swiss newspaper NZZ am Sonntag. It's the story of an almost two-decade old romance between Jesse (Ethan Hawke) and Celine (Julie Delpy), who first met on that train for Vienna in Before Sunrise (1995).
And of course the team brought you up to speed on what's happening in the news, in culture and in sports! Don't forget, it's the Gurtenfestival this weekend: a music festival up on a hill on the outskirts of Berne, with a great lineup of national and international bands. Anna and Jen will be your roving reporters and bring back interviews, pictures and tales of music and madness!
