Jinjer in Zurich - 15 December 2019

If you've never heard a frontwoman switch seamlessly from clean singing to death growls, now's your chance: head over to Ukrainian band Jinjer's music video of "Pisces" and join the millions whose jaws collectively dropped when they first heard Tatiana Shmailyuk's astonishing vocals.

Jinjer were the headliners of a metal extravaganza at the Dynamo in Zurich, featuring two powerhouse frontwomen, one frontman, and plenty of headbanging.

In their nine years' existence, Jinjer have gone from strength to strength. Their popularity has skyrocketed in the last couple of years – in Switzerland alone they went from being the second support act at the beginning of 2019 to headlining their own tour by the end of the year.

In Zurich, Jinjer raised the roof thanks to complex prog-metal-meets-jazz arrangements and Shmailyuk's charisma and vocal prowess.

The Agonist

Melodic death metal was the name of the game for Canada's The Agonist, who performed before Jinjer. Vicky Psarakis excelled at both clean singing and screamed vocals, and the band displayed their signature virtuosity on guitar, bass and drums.

Khroma

Adding electro elements to their metal, Finnish band Khroma kicked off proceedings in style, their heavy wall of sound punctuated by lighter, almost pop-like touches.

A memorable evening of metal.
