FC Basel defeated FC Sion
The fans at St Jakob did not have to wait long for excitement. Albian Ajeti received a pass from teammate Luca Zuffi and scored the first goal of the match after only one minute of action.
Fabian Frei increased the lead for Basel with a goal 27 minutes later.
Sion found their way onto the scoreboard after an unassisted goal from Uldrikis shortly before halftime.
Uldrikis made things interesting by scoring another goal for Sion and drawing the match in the second half.
Sion was riding a wave of momentum after their second goal, however they were stopped in their tracks after Andrè Neitzke inadvertently put the ball in his own goal.
FC Basel prevented Sion from correcting their mistake and won the match 3-2.
FC Basel is currently in second place in the Super League Division.
