Mizmorim Chamber Music Festival - Michal Lewkowicz

Broadcast on:
10 December, 2024

Michal Lewkowicz is the founder of the Basel-based Mizmorim Kammermusik (Chamber Music) Festival and she joined us in the studio to talk about the upcoming 11th edition, which will be focusing on the theme of «Exile» and will take place from January 29th until February 2nd, 2025. The festival focuses on the confluence of ancient and modern Jewish and Western classical music. In doing so, it seeks to build bridges between different religions and traditions, thereby fostering an understanding between cultures beyond current political events.

The Mizmorim Chamber Music Festival 2025 aims to sharpen the senses by presenting music from the century following the First World War. To name just a few highlights: Igor Stravinsky’s Histoire du soldat, Erich Wolfgang Korngold’s Fünf Lieder op. 38, Leo Ornstein’s Piano Sonata No. 4, Olivier Messiaen’s Quatuor pour la fin du temps and Kurt Weill’s Cello Sonata.
