I Love the Arts - New Season; Vitra Design Museum - Nike Exhibition

Broadcast on:
24 September, 2024

Over the summer, you heard us talk about aperós, talks and family nights at the Foundation Beyeler, the Kunstmuseum, Sinfonieorchester Basel, and Theater Basel. These were organised by «I Love the Arts», an event series aimed at connecting English speakers with the city’s cultural institutions. I Love the Arts is back for an autumn and winter season, with events planned from October through January. Meret Jaggi returns to The English Show to tell us about what’s planned and what’s ahead. Listen to the interview here.

The new exhibition «Nike: Form Follows Motion» at the Vitra Design Museum covers the history, design, and science of Nike – from humble beginnings in Oregon to globe-dominating fashion. Along the way, there are peeks into the lab where the company developed technology like the famous Nike Air. There’s also a discussion of sustainability in manufacturing, and even some critique of Nike’s global dominance. Exhibit curator Glenn Adamson led the creation of the show, pulling items from Nike’s vast company archive. Adamson walked The English Show’s Gabe Bullard through the museum and pointed out a few of the highlights. Listen to the interview here.
