80s Hits and Cultural Picks
If you’ve been cooped up this week avoiding the clouds and rain, our show will have you dancing on the ceiling. We’re playing some of our favourite hits of the ‘80s and running through the next few days’ cultural highlights – some activities to look forward to after your working hour.
If the skies clear, you can dance under the stars with Danzeria Disco. If it’s still dreary out, you can get a splash of color at the Foundation Beyeler’s Henri Matisse retrospective. It’s the first such show in the German-speaking world in almost 20 years (and you think you’ve been cooped up?). If you want art you can take home, try shopping for some at the ceramics market at Markthalle this weekend.
If somehow our music and events didn’t get you moving, then you might look for answers at the Basel History Museum. Their new exhibit, Insanely Normal, looks at history of psychiatry in Basel and around the world.
Other events happening in the region include the Blaulichttag on Barfüsserplatz on September 21, the Schupfart Music Festival at the Schupfart airfield on September 20 to 22, and a Truffle Market in Liestal on September 21.
The '80s songs we played on the show:
Tears For Fears - The Working Hour
Erasure - Sometimes
Lionel Richie - Dancing On The Ceiling
Madness - Our House
Depeche Mode - Stripped
The Bangles - Walk Like An Egyptian
Mr. Mister - Kyrie
Kim Wilde - You Keep Me Hangin' On
