Current Basel Events and 1960s Music
This week is a show of throwbacks. Our culture calendar featured Basel History Days, a week of historical events hosted by institutions and clubs from throughout the region. If you're looking to revel in the past a bit more once your head is full of facts, we also discussed the Planet '90s Dance Party. And for a slightly different vintage, our musical theme was the 1960s, with songs from the Beatles, Ray Charles, Aretha Franklin and more.
To get out of the past and look at the future, particularly your future if you're new to Basel, consider stopping by the Expat Expo on March 17th to get information on schools, child care, finances, and so much more.
To get there, you can take public transit, like many people did. We discussed the news that gross ticket sales on Swiss public transportation climbed 7.2% in 2023. But if you're looking for some self-powered locomotion outside of town, you can join a daylong bike tour. However, if your bike is broken, you could stop by this weekend's repair market. These events, stories, and much more are on this week's show.
Our 1960s songs were:
The Beatles - A Hard Day's Night
Johnny Cash - Ring of Fire
The Monkees - I'm a Believer
The Mamas and The Papas - California Dreamin'
Smokey Robinson - You've Really Got A Hold On Me
The Kinks - You Really Got Me
Creedence Clearwater Revival - Fortunate Son
Ray Charles - Hit the Road Jack
The Beatles - Help!
