Mini Advent Bazaar at the Anglican Church of Basel
Sarah Nevill from the Anglican Church of Basel joined us to talk about the Mini Advent Bazaar on Saturday, 4th December 2021, at the church of the Sacré Coeur on Feierabendstrasse 68 in Basel. Why Mini, you might be asking? The space is smaller! Sadly, therefore, there will be no books or bric a brac, but you'll get coffee, cakes, and savoury treats to enjoy with friends, as well as groceries such as homemade jams, chutney, marmalade, lemon curd, toys for the children, Christmas decorations, and more. Join the Church and its community for another event as well: a Traditional Service of Nine Lessons and Carols on December 12th at Heiliggeistkirche. Listen to the interview with Sarah Nevill here.
It's that soulful time of year when we celebrate holidays, gifts and friends and family. Whether you celebrate Christmas, Diwali, Hanukkah, Kwanza or in your own personal way, we've collected some special tracks to complement the holiday vibe and lift your spirits.
According to Wikipedia, Neo Soul developed during the 1980s and early 1990s, in the United States and United Kingdom, as a soul revival movement. It earned mainstream success during the 1990s, with the commercial and critical breakthroughs of several artists, including D'Angelo, Erykah Badu, Lauryn Hill, and Maxwell. Since its initial mainstream popularity and impact on the sound of contemporary R&B, neo soul has been expanded and diversified musically through the works of both American and international artists. On today's show, we played:
Fat Night - Sun Go Down
Erykah Badu - Mr. Telephone Man
Brittany Howard - He Loves Me
Kings Go Forth - High On Your Love
Nick Hakim - I Don't Know
Anderson .Paak (feat. Smokey Robinson) - Make It Better
