Expat Expo Ed McGaugh, Swiss Alarm Test

Broadcast on:
4 February, 2020

The Expat Expo is back on its NEW date this upcoming weekend.  The Expat Expo is celebrating its 15th year in Switzerland.  Originally, the expo used to be in late spring, but moved last year to early February to much success.  If you are American, this is an especially opportune event as members of the Democrats Abroad will be on hand to help you register to vote in upcoming elections...irrespective of your political affiliation.  Speaking of political affiliations, this year will mark the first time Switzerland's Social Democratic party will have a booth to help expats and attendees in general understand their platforms and political goals.  If you haven't been, the Expat Expo is a great way to enjoy a broad range of goods and services offered locally.

Tomorrow, around 13:30 you may be alarmed to hear the emergency sirens situated around Basel.  No need for alarm, the sirens are tested once a year to ensure their functioning and efficacy.  It may be especially jarring if you're new to the community or country and have never heard the tests before. Rest assured, you will have a chance to hear them every year...
