Wine Guru Juan Lo Bello, TEDx Basel, Gadget Guru - Looking Back In Time, Tribute to Kevin Richmond
Juan Lo Bello's passion for wine started in Mendoza, Argentina, close to the original “Juan” (his grandfather), who introduced him to the world of wine. He continued his professional career in the UK, where he finished his WSET Level 4 Diploma in 2008. He has experienced the world of wine from every angle: producers, distributors/ importers, markets, brand development and consumers. He has now also become a WSET Certified Wine Educator and teaches wine courses right here in Basel. In 2016, he founded the Wine Guru on Wheels to provide personalised wine experiences and wine education to private individuals and corporate business customers. Juan came in to give us the details of his next "Wine Sharing event. The Wine Professionals and You" on Monday 20th of May, 19:00 at Vinigma, the only urban winery in Basel. For more details about reserving your place and booking, you can visit Juan's Facebook page or website. Like a true guru, Juan can also help with any of those burning wine questions you always wanted to ask and never dared. He calls it Juan-to-One Wine Conversations. TEDx Basel triumphantly returns for its 6th annual event at the Basel Musical Theater on Saturday, 11 May at 13:00. It's difficult to appreciate the awesomeness of a live TEDx event if you haven't attended, and if you base your preconceptions on edited Ted Talk YouTube videos. In addition, you get to be part of the audience as members of your Basel community share their inspiring and often profound stories. This year's line-up of speakers is no exception - you can visit the TEDx Basel website to see a preview, and additional speakers are also expected. During the show, catering will be provided outside the venue by Basel food trucks. Get your tickets now as this event usually sells out quickly! Bret Simner was in the studio to give us the details. Ian the Gadget Guru likes to look forward to what is coming towards us in the world of technology. But this week he takes a quick trip down memory lane at probably the most important device released in the last 30 years. It may not have looked like it at the time, but it created a whole new market few knew existed. Listen to the segment here to find out more!
Our show this week is dedicated to our Arts and Dance Correspondent Kevin Richmond. We're very sad to say that he passed away from cancer last month. He was with the English Show for years, reporting on all the dance performances happening in and around Basel. He himself was a dancer and choreographer, and he always came into the studio with huge energy and laughter. Almost exactly a year ago, on April 24th, we did a whole show about cancer awareness and support. Kevin was kind and brave enough to talk to us about his own diagnosis and treatment. He fought hard and with typical good humour, but lost the battle last month. So we want to dedicate today's show to him by playing the songs that he chose for that show a year ago. With his typical positive attitude, he chose songs that put a smile on your face. He will always be remembered on our team, and his voice still rings out bright and clear.

Johnny Nash - I Can See Clearly Now
Monty Python - Always Look On The Bright Side Of Life
