Picasso Exhibition at Fondation Beyeler, Sustainable Living - Zero-Waste Platform Loop
As of this week, the Fondation Beyeler has a new exhibition called "The young Picasso. Blue and Rose Periods". This exhibition, the most ambitious ever staged by the Fondation Beyeler, is devoted to the paintings and sculptures of the young Pablo Picasso from the so-called Blue and Rose periods, between 1901 and 1906. For the first time in Europe, the masterpieces of these crucial years, every one of them a milestone on Picasso’s path to preeminence as the twentieth century’s most famous artist, are presented together, in a concentration and quality that are unparalleled. The exhibition features around 75 masterpieces on loan from major museums and private collections worldwide. It is unlikely that they will be seen again in such a selection in a single place. Our reporter Ingrid Koning spoke with curator Raphael Bouvier. She started by asking him which painting made him jump for joy when he realised he got it for this special exhibition. Ingrid also got a statement from Picasso's son Claude Picasso, who was at the opening of the exhibition. Listen to the whole report here.
Our "Queen of Green" Carrie Aikman came in to talk about an exciting new pilot project rolling out this spring aimed at drastically disrupting our current packaging system. Loop, an online shopping platform, is working with some of the world's biggest brands to move their supply chains away from disposable packaging, which is what creates ocean plastic, to durable supply chains--so waste is never created in the first place! Read more here, and listen to Carrie's segment here.
