Semi-Circle, Basel Cricket Club, Expat Expo Interviews

Broadcast on:
29 May, 2018

The Semi-Circle is a non-profit theatre group based in Basel. Founded in 1975, the group operates entirely with volunteers. Director Richard Brown and lead actress Cathy Barker came in to talk about Semi-Circle's latest production "Top Girls" by Caryl Churchill. This play observes how different women cope with the constraints of a patriarchal society in mid-1980's Britain, a time of rapid change. Performances are on June 8 & 9; 15 & 16 and 22 & 23 at the Theatre Rampe. Get your tickets now! Listen to the interview again here.

Basel Cricket Club had its beginnings on the notice board of the Carnival Squash Club in Allschwil in 1978 and has gone from strength to strength since then. In 2004, the club started the first Junior Cricket initiative in Switzerland. There are around 40 children currently in the club. Club president Steve West told us about the sport itself and what the club does. Training is on Friday evenings at Sportsgrounds Bachgraben (Senior training 18.30 – 20.30 and Junior Training 17.30 – 19.30).

A big thank you to everyone who stopped by at the Expat Expo 2018 on Sunday and agreed to be interviewed! We had Simon from the UK, Alex from the USA, and Megan from the USA on the show tonight, talking about their expat experience and what they like to do in Basel.
