Gurtenfestival Special - Interviews with Pedestrians & Al Pride

Broadcast on:
18 July, 2017

It was loud, it was intense, it was glorious: The English Show spent four days at Bern's Gurtenfestival, on the hunt for the best pictures and interviews!

Pedestrians is a reggae/ska/pop band from Baden, Switzerland. Having won several local and national contests, they released their EP ''What's The Difference'' at the end of last year. It was produced in London in collaboration with the band Will and the People. After the band's spirited concert at the Gurtenfestival, Anna talked to singer Mike Bill about the joys of reggae, "Feeling Good", and recording the official anthem for city festival Badenfahrt together with Al Pride and Frank Powers. Listen to the interview again here.

There's something in the water in Baden: Al Pride also hail from that town! As they once said of themselves, they "decided to think out of the box and explore creations outside of the musical field." They hone mellow pop songs to perfection with two lead vocals and a rich bed of sound. Their album "Hallavara" came out in 2016 and they've been touring it ever since. Nico Schulthess (vocals, guitar) and Lukas Schlumpf (bass) talked about why they sing in English, the lively music scene in Baden, and yes, recording the official anthem for Badenfahrt together with Pedestrians and Frank Powers. Listen to the interview again here.

And on a more sombre note, The English Show's Jake Dixon gives advice on what to do if your wallet gets stolen or lost. Listen to his tips right here.
