Nina Bradlin, Zweit Leben Charity Shop, Infofenster 11 - Education
Singer-songwriter Nina Bradlin came into the studio to talk about her new album Stardust. Stardust is an hommage to Nina Bradlin's father William Bradlin (1932-2007). It is a romantic album, pared down to the barest minimum and it features classic standards by Cole Porter and Irving Berlin, chansons and "Dance Me to the End of Love" by Leonard Cohen. Nina also told us about her upcoming album launch concert at the Bird's Eye Jazz Club this Friday, 6th January.
We also had Jessica Jarrett Cadé in the studio to talk about a new charity pop-up shop. Global charity (based in California, USA) Carry the Future has partnered with Basel Hilft Mit to create a pop-up vintage and secondhand shop in Liestal called Zweit Leben. It will be open until January 30th and is right in downtown Liestal, a 5-minute walk from the train station. Much of what is in the shop has been donated to Basel Hilft Mit but was not something that could be sent to refugees, so now the organisers are selling many of the very interesting and named brand items that have been collected. This in turn will help cover running costs. Zweit Leben is on Zeughausplatz 13 in Liestal and is open from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m., Tuesdays through Saturdays.
And in the continuing Radio X Infofenster series, we look at life in Switzerland and, more specifically, in Basel. This week's segment: (Further) Education!
