Free Walking Tours Basel, Dig It! w/ Hester MacDonald

Basel Free Walking Tours joined us today in the studio.  Katja, Stephanie, Nina started the Basel branch of "Free Walk Switzerland" in February 2015.  Since then, they've led over 800 tours in our beloved city.  Offering pre-scheduled, drop-in, group and custom tours they offer a special and highly personalized service in English and German.  A great way to learn about the city if you're new, a long-time resident, or hosting out-of-towners.  Basel Free Walking Tours currently has 6 guides ready to go now that the beautiful Swiss summer weather has arrived! Also on the program this week we had Dig-It!, Hester MacDonald's Bluebox produced program reporting again from the Journées des Plantes at the Domaine de Chantilly, near Paris.  The show is rapidly becoming the must-visit plant show for the season with the best French, British, German, Belgian and Dutch plant specialists showing their wares. Hester Macdonald met up with Stephen ward, the eponymous founder of Ward Alpines, a specialist grower and enthusiast of rhododendrons, dwarf conifers and alpines. Stephen selected the best plants for beginners from his collection.
