Raph Schriber - Fish 'n' Chips, HSK English

Broadcast on:
29 September, 2015

Raph(ael) Schriber came to Markthalle, saw that there was a definite lack of English food stalls, and the Basel fish 'n' chips story was born. Gaynor talked to Raph about his fantastic venture into providing hungry punters with the good fresh food that is available at Markthalle. Find out how pie 'n' mash and toad in the hole is also on the menu. The Codfather is born!  Raph also announced a contest to win free fish 'n' chips at his dining establishment by submitting a Toad in the Hole-related pun. For example: "Pie Me a River" or "King Prawns of Leon" or "Its Not the Wurst". Raph will select the best one and we'll announce the winner next week. Find our contest announcement on The English Show Facebook page or group and "comment" your pun to enter. Listen to the interview again here.

Contributing reporter and English Show almunus Matt Gilsenan came into the studio to have a chat with Joel about HSK English. The programme is designed to teach English in an afterschool environment for native English speakers that are in the local school system. Supported by the Canton, a total of 10 classes will be offered beginning in January of 2016 at facilities in or close to the city's local schools. Matt encourages you to get in touch if you are interested and don't see the programme offered in or near your school, as HSK English intends to expand and accomodate all interested families.
