Rich Man's Kitchen Orchestra, Basel Bake Off, Kevin Richmond's Culture Round-Up

Broadcast on:
28 July, 2015

Kaspar Hensel is a trumpetplayer and singer, busker and storyteller. His band The Rich Man's Kitchen Orchestra will be making an unexpected appearance in Switzerland: there's a legendary story of how they made it here, explaining where they come from and why they play the music they play. Their concert will be at the Tiki-Bar at Restaurant Platanenhof, Klybeckstrasse 241, 4057 Basel this Friday, 31st of July. From 6 pm on, food will be served (reservation necessary under 061 631 00 90). The concert starts at 9pm. Admission is free, but there will be a hat (Kollekte) for the band.

Back in April, we had Sandra Willi and Jayshree Sodha from the International Women's Institute Basel in the studio with us to talk about the Basel Bake Off, a cake and pudding competition. The Bake Off is now entering its second phase, and Sandra and Jay came into the studio again to tell us about the next event. Who will go through to the November finals? Find out by going to the Summer Bake Off at the Markthalle Basel on August 30th, where you'll also find craft and homemade goods stands. 50% of the profits from the event will be donated to Soup & Chill who support the homeless.

And finally, our Arts Correspondent Kevin Richmond gave us a Basel Culture Round-Up for July and August, summing up what's happening in the city in the next few weeks: from the Fondation Beyeler and the Schaulager to the Kaserne's Openair Basel.
