Our Basel tour guide Madeleine Wamister told us about one of the Best Sights To See in Basel: the Spalentor city gate - as well as the other gates still standing. The original seven gates have shrunk down to three, but all of them are well worth a look in all their medieval splendour.

Our music theme this week was classical music within pop music. Modern-day musicians have always been inspired by and/or have liberally borrowed from classical music's repertoire - and here are just a few of those tunes:
John Grant - Pale Green Ghosts (Rachmaninov - Prelude in C sharp minor)
Jem - They (Bach - Prelude in F minor)
Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross - In The Hall Of The Mountain King (Grieg - In The Hall Of The Mountain King)
Muse - Plug-In Baby (Bach - Toccata and Fugue in D minor)
Mika - Grace Kelly (Rossini - The Barber of Seville, "Largo Al Factotum")
Procol Harum - A Whiter Shade Of Pale (Bach - Air on a G string and "Ich steh mit einem Fuss im Grabe", BWV156)
Sting - Russians (Prokofiev - Lieutenant Kijé, "Romance")
Queen - It's A Hard Life (Leoncavallo - Pagliacci, "Vesti La Giubba")
Bright Eyes - Road To Joy (Beethoven - 9th Symphony, "Ode To Joy")
