Nic Oatridge, Rob Stuart
Our skiing guru Nic Oatridge came into the studio this week to tell us about Klewenalp. A small resort above the villages of Beckenried and Emmetten, Klewenalp has stunning views over Lake Lucerne towards the Rigi and the Mythens. it is very conveniently located for a day trip from Luzern or from the towns and cities of Northern Switzerland. There is a very long series of toboggan runs, airboarding, extensive scenic winter walks, good snowshoe trails and some lovely pistes.
Rob Stuart popped in to talk to Andrew about the newest movie releases. Over at the Stadtkino look out for the Laugh and Death event featuring a retrospective of great Woody Allen films showing now till the year's end. Then there's The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug, directed by Peter Jackson, starring Martin Freeman as the Hobbit Bilbo Baggins and the sequel to An Unexpected Journey. Another sequel out now is The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, directed by Francis Lawrence and starring the beautiful Jennifer Lawrence. There's also Cate Blanchett and Alec Baldwin in Woody Allen's Blue Jasmin, a tragicomedy based on what looks like a Mike Leigh play.
And of course we had our regular features - news, sports and cultural events both over the borders and in Basel, while the music was suitably Christmassy, though occasionally irreverent.
The whole English Show team wishes you a wonderful Christmas!
