Outfit, Nic Oatridge, Veto

Broadcast on:
10 December, 2013

This week's show was music-centric, with season-appropriate skiing thrown in for good measure!

Liverpool five-piece Outfit formed a mere two years ago, but they have already garnered the attention of BBC’s 6Music, The Guardian and Q music Magazine. They recently played a set at the Schoolyard / 1. Stock in Münchenstein. Anna talked to Andrew Hunt and Chris Hutchinson about their carefully constructed sound, their connection to Basel, and dressing up as aliens. Listen to the interview again here.

Nic Oatridge told Kiwi Jon about Feldberg, Germany's largest winter sports resort outside the Alps. Feldberg is the highest point in the Black Forest. It is popular with weekend skiers so parking can be challenging (unless you arrive early) and queues can also build up on the lifts - although they are rarely long. Generally this is an excellent resort for beginners and intermediates, but there is a tough FIS World Cup run too.

And finally, Danish electro rockers Veto did a mini-tour through Switzerland recently, stopping off in Laufen near Basel. The band formed in 2004 and have been releasing albums at regular intervals since then; their newest approach has been to release two shorter EPs, Sinus and Point Break (both excellent), within a six-month period. Anna caught up with singer Troels Abrahamsen and guitarist David Krogh Andersen before their show in Laufen to talk about this new approach and to quiz them with fiendish either-or conundrums. Listen to the extended interview here.

All this, and of course our regular features of news, sports, culture calendar and more!
