Our resident cinema expert Rob Stuart told us about the US box office and the best films of the summer months. Best films turned out to be Man of Steel, Iron Man 3 and Despicable Me 2, boosted by great audiences. New films coming soon and ones to watch are: The Congress, a live action animation film inspired by the book 'Futurological Congress' by Stanislaw Lem (Star Diaries), directed by Ari Folman (Waltz with Bashir)  starring Robin Wright, Paul Giamatti, and Harvey Keitel. Jobs, directed by Joshua Michale Stern, starring Ashton Kutcher and James Woods, is the story of Steve Jobs and the Apple Computer Company. Disconnect, directed by Henry Alex Rubin, stars Max Thieriot, Jason Bateman and Alexander Skarsgard. It's a drama about how the internet has worked itself into our lives, with serious consequences. Gravity is directed by Alfonso Cuaron and stars Sandra Bullock and George Clooney as space-walking astronauts who hit a problem and need to cooperate to survive. Good reviews for acting, action-sequences, visual effects and use of 3D. Some say that this film restores a sense of wonder to the movies... And don't forget the Best of Animation from the Fantoche Festival - a selection of films that will be shown on the 25th September at Stadkino Basel.
