Man severely attacked after Fasnacht festivities

A 30 year old man was severely attacked this morning at 2am at the Rheingasse and Greifengasse intersection. Two costumed men beat him to the ground, kicked him in the face and in the abdomen until he was unconscious.

The victim was on his way home and saw the two revelers assault another person. He intervened and called on them to leave the man alone. As a result, they left their first victim and turned their aggression towards the 30-year-old.

According to witnesses, the perpetrators were men who are 1.70 to 1.75 m high. One of them wore a monkey or bear-like costume with a bright belly. He also had a solid stature and a three-day beard. The second assailant also wore a costume that resembles a monkey. He was slim and had light hair.

The injured man was admitted to the emergency department.

The police are looking for those who witnessed the incident and more details about the two costumed criminals.
