The Basel Marionetten Theater (string puppet theatre) is over 80 years old. It is the city's oldest cellar theatre and the first theatre with regular productions for the whole family.

Cops Bust Fast & Furious; COVID Vaccination Registration Open To All; Banksy Exhibition Comes To Basel

We've been reporting the last few months about the increased enforcement of road rules by the Basel city traffic police, and now it seems they're after drivers that enhance their cars with non-compliant performance enhancing parts. Over the last week, over 500 drivers have been pulled over at roadside checkpoints in the Kleinhuningen district and subjected to inspection. The area is popular with drivers that like to show off their tricked-out rides, causing headaches for residents with excess automobile noise and dangerous driving behavior. 27 drivers were cited for violations, and were ordered to restore their cars to approved stock parts before driving again. In addition, one car was confiscated outright for having an illegal exhaust system.

Residents of Basel Stadt can now register with the Canton on-line to receive the Covid19 vaccination. The registration system surveys applicants with a series of questions. The responses are used to prioritize the applicant and place them in a queue for an actual vaccination appointment. When the appointment date is imminent, those that have registered are notified via email or SMS of their upcoming vaccination details. Apparently, the Basel Stadt has not aggressively promoted this information for fear of overwhelming the registration system - this was the case in Canton Lucerne where they informed every resident directly and saw their system crash when over 4000 applicants attempted to access the system the first day.

For fans of the artist Banksy, over 100 of his works have been collected and were put on display at Messe Basel starting yesterday, March 1. Titled "Building Castles In The Sky", the exhibition will continue until the end of May. The artist Banksy is not officially associated with nor endorsing the exhibition - on the artist's website, it specifically says that it was organized without their knowledge or assistance.
