Cannibal Corpse in Aarau - 22 June 2019
Ah, death metal... Picture bucolic meadows, gamboling lambs, colourful flowers. Then imagine the opposite. That's right, you are now at a death metal concert. It's certainly not a music style that's everyone's cup of tea, but for those moments when you want indecipherable lyrics and staccato double-bass beats, it's just the ticket.
And if you've never experienced a death metal band live, you might as well start with the top-selling death metal band of all time - Cannibal Corpse. Growled vocals: check. Technical brilliance: check. Hellish heat in the venue: check.
The KIFF in Aarau was heaving with headbanging fans, ready to mosh to the band's older songs as well as tracks from their new album "Red Before Black". Swiss death metal bands Omophagia and Carnal Decay lent a hand in the madness.
On a side note: it's heartening to see so many women at a death metal gig - not just in the audience, but on stage and behind the cameras, too.
