Kevin Richmond's Dance Round-Up - May-July 2017

Our Arts Correspondent Kevin Richmond told us all about the dance performances happening in Basel in the coming months.

At the Musical Theater, there's Mummenschanz with their programme "you & me" from May 17 - 21; while from 25 - 30 July, you have the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theatre with "Revelations" (1960), "Open Door" (2015) and other pieces.

At the Theater Basel, there's Rodgers and Hammerstein's musical Carousel, performed until May 5th. The premiere of Peer Gynt is on May 18, with performances running until June 22. And young artists from Basel's company will put their own choreographed work into performance with DanceLab 8 on June 8.

And at the Kaserne Basel, check out Basel documentary days 17, which features international guest performances, lectures, workshops and experimental excursions. Kaserne also hosts wildwuchs 2017 along with Roxy Birsfelden, Arxhof & Universitäre Psychiatrische Klinik Basel; wildwuchs investigates the impact of living «inside» or «outside» our society. How do you feel when you walk through the doors of a psychiatric hospital as either a visitor or as a patient? And how do you cope with the arrival of thousands of refugees at the borders?
