The Gadget Guru Ian Ellery was on the programme tonight talking about Tesla. Yes, the car company - but not their cars. It seems Elon Musk, Tesla's illustrious leader, hasn't been busy enough changing the kinds of cars we drive, and has announced the company is well underway with providing solar generation roofs for residential installation. These are no ordinary solar panels; the tiles themselves are designed to generate electricity, and the company claims installation, once susbsidies are factored into the price, make the purchase a net positive investment from day 1. Ian points out that in many residential areas, regulations vary and may proscribe the type or appearance of roofs that may be installed, so be sure to check your local ordinances before investing.
