Dig It! - Sedums - October 2016

As the days get shorter and the evenings cooler, the autumn stars of the garden begin to shine. Sedums, or stonecrops, are one of the favorite autumn flowering plants of Hester Macdonald, contributing correspondent of the BlueBox team, garden designer and founder of the Swiss Gardening School. Sedums provide interesting foliage all year as well as brilliant autumn flower colour. Chris Hansen, a sedum breeder from Michigan, is crazy about these plants, and we caught up with him at Plantarium, where he told us all about their latest medal-winner, the lovely ground-cover Sedoro "Blue Elf." If you want some ideas for planting sedums, go to their Sun Sparkler Sedums site and check out their make-over of their car park!
