Gojira and new album "Fortitude"

Broadcast on:
4 May, 2021

French metal titans Gojira released their seventh album "Fortitude" on April 30th, 2021. The four-piece started in 1996, and while their first albums were rooted in death metal, over the years they've added elements of groove and progressive metal. Vocalist and guitarist Joe Duplantier's vocal style ranges from growls and melodic screams to clean singing. An incendiary live band, they've been embraced by the metal community as one of the best bands in the genre. Gojira are known for their spiritual and environment-themed lyrics and are frequent supporters of environmental causes.

"Fortitude" is a further stepping stone in their ever-evolving sound, encompassing the heaviness they're known for as well as more melodic songs that won't scare your neighbours. You can buy the new album here. Joe Duplantier told Anna Wirz about the current lack of touring, looking after his voice, and having to be a little crazy to do what they do.
