Silicon Is a Grey Crystal Exhibition

Event Dates:
25 November, 2017 - 17:00 - 30 December, 2017 - 16:00

With the constant doubling of computing power of data processors, the symbiosis between organic life and digital reality seems to be finally completed. The achievement of this ancient fantasy, however, is not translated into science fiction dreams, but into the capitalist mechanisms in which human activity is traded as a digital product.

Many artists adopt a disillusioned attitude towards the digital revolution. In the exhibition, some of them refer to our ambiguous relationship with computers, others to the illusory nature of technological prophecies. Others are celebrating the chaotic excesses of algorithms, creating mishaps and anomalies to simulate unconscious life in machines, or rediscovering the beauty of outdated technologies. In these works, silicon, the basic material of processors, reveals its dreams and hallucinations.
