Handel's Messiah at Martinskirche

The Basler Bach-Chor is performing Georg Friedrich Händel's Messiah at the Martinskirche. The Messiah is one of the most sublime pieces of classical music ever. Händel himself conducted the first performance on April 13th, 1742 at the New Music Hall in Dublin. It was an immediate success, and The Messiah became one of the most often performed oratorios in his time and indeed, up to now. Händel himself conducted 36 performances. 

The Basler Bach-Chor will be singing The Messiah in English.
