This 2 hour Girls Night Out workshop will explore different surface decoration techniques including silk screening and image transfer. During the hands-on session, each participant will have the opportunity to create a tall cylindrical vase. The handmade pieces will be bisque fired prior to the class and ready for decoration and glaze. To create the surface of the piece, we will use a combination of laser transfers and clay carbon paper to set a pattern and then illustrate over the patterns with ink-like underglaze pens. Participants can also use silk screens and underglazes to create images and patterns in a variety of colors. This is the process that TRö uses to create all of their pottery.

These are fun and surprisingly simple techniques with lovely results. The ability to draw is absolutely not required. While lots of inspiration and all of the materials will be provided, if you have drawings or patterns that you would like to use, please feel free to bring them. Wine and snacks will be provided.

After the workshop, Meghan, Tro’s owner and designer, will glaze and fire each piece in a glossy clear, making it food and dishwasher safe. The vases will be ready to pick up about three weeks after the workshop.

The workshop price is 75CHF and includes all materials and firing fees.
