Edward Waites and Micah Crandall-Bear Exhibition

Event Dates:
19 October, 2017 - 17:00 - 4 November, 2017 - 17:00

Artists Edward Waites and Micah Crandall-Bear are exhibiting at the Galerie Brigitta Leupin.

Edward Waites was born in 1988 in Suffolk. Completely self-taught, Edward has dedicated himself to his craft since leaving school and despite his young age, his distinctive sculpture has already earned him international recognition and acclaim.
Edward’s collection comprises of animals and wildlife and is shaped by his passion for the vitality, energy and grace of his subjects. His approach is very immediate and hands-on, and from very early on in his career he has worked closely with the foundry in Suffolk that casts his works. Following the ancient lost-wax method, Edward works first in clay, and then casts in bronze and silver in limited editions.

Edward’s sculptures feature in distinguished public, corporate and private collections around the world, including several royal collections.
Notable commissions include those for Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and His Royal Highness the Duke of Edinburgh and the ruling family of Dubai.

As a Northern California native, Micah Crandall-Bear established his artistic roots locally and his «wet-on-wet» method is a contemporary application of «alla prima», a traditional technique used mostly in oil painting, where layers of wet paint are applied to previous layers of wet paint.

Micah Crandall-Bear’s abstract landscape paintings examine Earth’s intrinsic resources. His concept is infused with linear layers that cascade from atmospheric to subterranean. Landscape details hint at daily and seasonal shifts in light, evoking a sense of evolution and balance. In an ever-increasing technological world, his work reminds us to pause and admire our wild and natural surroundings.

His reputation brings him consistent national and international attraction from both private and public collectors. Micah’s work is collected by the Crocker Art Museum, University hospitals, Facebook data centers in Sweden, Malaysia and more, and has been featured in several important Art Magazines.
